Ad-Free Refdesk FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I cancel my Ad-free refdesk subscription?

If you would like to cancel this subscription, log in to your PayPal account and go to the "History" subtab of the "My Account" tab. Choose "Subscriptions" from the pull-down "Show" menu and press the "Submit" button. Choose this subscription, and click on its "Details" link. You will be taken to a Transaction Details page from which you may cancel your subscription. Cancelling your subscription will immediately stop all future scheduled payments for this subscription.

I recently send refdesk a donation. Can I get 'credit' for this donation toward a subscription for Ad-free refdesk?

Sorry, the two features are independent of each and there is no way to give you a 'credit.'

Can I use Amazon to pay by credit card to subscribe to or to renew my Ad-free refdesk subscription?

No, you may not use Amazon to pay by credit card for your Ad-free refdesk subscription. The reason for this is our Ad-free refdesk database is linked to PayPal. If you use Amazon to pay for Ad-free refdesk, a new account will NOT be set up in our database. If you are unable to use PayPal, you may select the "Pay by check" option when you signup for your Ad-free refdesk account.

How do I log in and out of the Ad-Free site?

Visit https://refdesk.com and click on the "Login" link near the top left of the screen. When you are logged in, this link will change to "Logout". Once you are subscribed, you will be able to access Ad-Free Refdesk from any computer, anywhere: at home, at work or in a public place like a library or Internet cafe. Please be aware that your browser must accept cookies in order to successfully login, so that we can identify your account.

How do I renew my subscription?

If you selected auto-renewal, your account will not expire unless your payment information needs to be updated at Paypal. If you selected manual renewal, your Refdesk.com account will expire each year, and your password will stop working. When this happens, a notice will be shown on your screen with information about how to renew. Simply follow the on-screen instructions to re-activate your account.

Will my Subscription auto-renew each year?

All customers signing up after July 23, 2005 are not automatically set for auto-renewal. If you signed up after July 23, 2005, then your renewal options were set upon signup in accordance with the options you selected. Check your account activation email for clarification on your selected settings.

I requested auto renewal. How can I cancel this?

1) Log into your Paypal account at http://www.paypal.com.
2) If you are presented with a special offer, click "go to account".
3) Click the "History" tab under the "My Account" tab.
4) Locate your Refdesk.com subscription in the list of transactions. It will look like this:

Date Type To/From Name/Email Status Details
Jul. 23, 2005 Subscription Creation To Refdesk.com Active Details

5) Click the "Details" link.
6) At the bottom of the details screen click "Cancel Subscription"
7) At the confirmation screen click the "Cancel Subscription" screen again.

I'm unable to log in. What should I do?

First, check to make sure your CAPS LOCK key is not on. Both your email address and password are case sensitive. They must be entered the same way you entered them when you registered.

If you are trying to log in immediately following your registration, you may need to wait a few minutes for Paypal to notify us of your verified payment. If there was any problem with the payment transaction, your account may not be activated. To resolve this, please contact us.
