Please help keep Refdesk on the Internet. Why? Refdesk ...
Become a member of an ever-growing group of people who start their Internet day with Refdesk. Become an owner of one of the largest 'grassroots' sites on the Internet. Help keep Refdesk free and family-friendly. Site Philosophy and Approach
Refdesk keeps online ads to a minimum. (A subscription-based Ad-free version of refdesk is available.) Refdesk does not charge to access site content. Instead, the spirit of the original, non-commercial Internet guides Refdesk. This spirit envisions a living encyclopedia of information in the public domain, maintained by people who freely share their knowledge of where to find things on the Internet. All site features are family-friendly and available free of charge.
I believe information and facts should neither be owned nor controlled by publishers - who may charge access/subscription fees - but should belong to the public, and should be made freely available. Refdesk is committed to this belief and to the establishment of a permanent public library of facts and information. User satisfaction and publishing relevant information from reliable, unbiased sources are Refdesk's top priorities.
As a service to site readers, Refdesk provides links to anti pop-up ads and anti SPAM (unsolicited E-mail) tools and resources.
Finally, you may register complaints about pop-ups and other online advertising at the Federal Trade Commission (click on 'File a Complaint Online.')
Each time I see or learn of objectionable ads I reject them with resulting increased loss in revenue. To keep Refdesk on the Internet, I need your help.
Your support can help keep Refdesk online. As refdesk's traffic grows so do costs associated with publishing the site. Refdesk averages over one million page views per day. Publishing expenses include: web hosting services, hardware, software, and programming. The largest expense is for bandwidth. Each time a site reader clicks one one of refdesk's 20 thousand plus links, refdesk pays for the bandwidth charge to take the reader to their selected link.
Two donation methods are available, credit card and check. (Please be assured, in making a donation, your name will never be added to any Refdesk mailing list or given to any other site.)
Any payment - I am suggesting $25 per year - will help with the maintenance, growth, and costs of publishing Refdesk. Payment is fast and easy. Your credit card information is secure and your privacy is protected at Amazon and PayPal.
